Abstract

This second part of the paper on Humanistic Buddhism as Conceived and Interpreted by Grand Master Hsing Yun of Fo Guang Shan (the first part was published in Volume 1 of this Journal), consists of a summary of the “development and progress of humanistic Buddhism in today’s world” which includes both how it has been put into practice over the last 30 + years as well as some possible directions it may develop in the future. The expansion of the Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Order and its lay counterpart, Buddha’s Light International Association (BLIA), has been rapid, serving millions of people world-wide. A summary of their services and contributions to promote the development of Humanistic Buddhism world-wide are presented in this paper.
